San Juan Basin Health Department’s (SJBHD) Promotor Program has received three more years of funding.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Office of Health Equity has awarded SJBHD $216,431 for its first year to continue work on increasing access to care for primarily Hispanic/Latino populations to help reduce chronic disease and improve health outcomes.

This is accomplished by hiring promotores, Hispanic/Latino community members who receive specialized training. Promotores are active in their communities providing outreach, health screenings, one-on-one health coaching and serving as a bridge to better connect their clients to the health care system through referrals.
