Two Pagosa Springs students — Leo Baughman and Johanna Laverty — are the 2015 recipients of scholarships from the Darin Rome Memorial Scholarship Fund, a fund that will also be the beneficiary of the La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) Golf Tournament set for Saturday, June 20.

The Darin Rome Memorial Scholarship Fund, which remembers Rome, a musician and journeyman lineman with LPEA, supports aspiring music students. Baughman will study music at Fort Lewis College. Laverty will attend the Berklee College of Music, pursuing a degree in musical performance/music therapy.

“We are very grateful to LPEA’s line personnel that they’ve selected the scholarship fund as the beneficiary of golf tournament proceeds this year,” said Laura Rome, Darin Rome’s widow. “These students are so deserving and Darin would have been so honored to have funds raised in his name for these young musicians.”
