Even though they won’t see any postseason action this year, the Pagosa Springs Lady Pirates finished their regular season on a positive note, defeating Ignacio 9-0 last Thursday and Ridgway 7-0 last Friday.

Both games were here in Pagosa Golden Peaks Stadium, and while the Ignacio Bobcats and the Ridgeway Demons used to be in the same league as the Pirates, this year their girls’ soccer teams dropped down to the 2A division.

“The last two games were a great way to end,” coach Lindsey Kurt-Mason said. “The girls were playing really well together.”

The Bobcats

The Pirates scored six goals in the first half and three in the second half while holding the Bobcats scoreless through all 80 minutes. The Bobcats finished their season with zero wins and 12 losses.

Johannah Laverty led the offensive effort with four goals — what some might call a “hat trick” plus one, or more accurately a “double brace” — while Shannel Wilson, Hannah Marnocha, Alyssa Lewis, Addie Thompson and Meghan Ellis each scored one goal.
