Pirates ready for home opener Saturday

After a brief hiatus due to spring break, the Pagosa Springs High School Pirate baseball team is returning to game action with a series of home games beginning Saturday.

Beginning with a Saturday doubleheader against the Monte Vista Pirates, Pagosa is set to host five straight games, four of which will be league matches.

“We need to win this week’s doubleheader and next week’s if you want any chance of moving on,” coach Jim Fait noted.

The Pirates have nine games remaining, with seven being league games. The Pirates are currently 0-2 in the league after dropping a doubleheader to the Alamosa Mean Moose on April 4. Overall, the team is 3-7 this season.
