The area’s heavy wet snow continues to affect La Plata Electric Association’s electrical system. At approximately 8:25 a.m. all of Archuleta County experienced a brief power outage as demonstrated by the above graphic.
At this time, approximately 8,700 LPEA customers spread among 55 outages in La Plata and Archuleta counties are out of power. Crews are attending to outages as quickly as possible.
In addition to outages, LPEA customers are experiencing “the blinks” – brief power outages that occur when snow dislodges from the electrical wires, causing them to bounce and come in contact with each other or other objects.
Power outages are expected to continue throughout the day.
