A Pagosa Springs man was arrested for criminal attempt first-degree murder last week following an incident at an uptown bar on Nov. 11.

James Edward Tatum, 55, of Pagosa Springs, reportedly threatened to kill two other males while at The Buffalo Inn that evening, said Detective Jacob Beach with the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office.

Beach said law enforcement received a call about the incident at about 7:15 p.m., but both men who were allegedly threatened were no longer at the scene when deputies arrived.

Upon contact with Tatum, Beach said several knives were removed from Tatum’s possession.

Tatum was released on bond and official charges are pending, Beach indicated.
