This month’s meeting of the San Juan Back Country Horsemen will be Monday, July 21.
This month’s program is “Trail Traumas Due to Dehydration,” presented by Elk Park Animal Hospital DVMs Dwight Hooton and Donald Thompson.
Hooton has practiced in other dry climates, including New Mexico and Dubai, as well as serving for many national and international competitive equestrian events. Thompson moved here from his veterinary practice in Vermont and is also licensed by the International Veterinary Accupuncture Society.
Social time for the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Archuleta County CSU Extension building on U.S. 84, one-quarter mile south of Pagosa Springs. The meeting and presentation will start at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Our BCH chapter has adopted Anderson Trail for trail maintenance under an agreement with the San Juan Forest Pagosa Ranger District. We will keep the trail in shape for all users, including equestrians. Our members have also been active on other trail maintenance, including with the Pagosa Area Trails Council, maintaining trails and using our packing skills.
