“Something about when you get in that water washes everything away,” Ricky, a military veteran who suffers from PTSD, says of fly fishing.
Ricky is one of an untold number of veterans who were injured or wounded while serving in the military, with those wounds sometimes seen, and sometimes unseen.
Ricky is also one of eight veterans who recently trekked to Pagosa Springs for several days of relaxation and fly-fishing as part of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) — a program “dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and veterans through fly fishing and fly tying education and outings.”
