As the Friends of Pagosa Multi-Purpose Pavilion gears up for its next cocktail-style cookbook recipe contest, it will have the assistance of some local jersey-wearing hockey players from Pagosa Pond Hockey.

In the spirit of community partnership, the players are supporting the nonprofit organization as it pursues a permanent winter ice facility in Pagosa Springs. The hockey group will be hosting the Inaugural Pagosa Pond Hockey Classic at Riverside Park Jan. 25-26.  The two-day tournament will consist of three-on-three team play with players from around southwest Colorado.

The weekend event promises to be great fun and excitement for players and spectators alike, with the tournament culminating in final game play and awards on Sunday.

Proceeds from the tournament are generously being donated to the Multi-Purpose Pavilion project. Tournament event organizer Brian Collabolletta and fellow players will be available to give further information at the Friend’s cookbook fundraiser at the View Restaurant, Friday, Jan. 17, from 6-8 p.m. The evening will include a silent auction, appetizers and beverage tasting along with the wonderful music of Sally Neel, Kathy Wadenpfuhl and Heidi Tanner from Curtains Up Pagosa.
