A fond farewell to The Den

After 13 years at the helm of Archuleta County Senior Services, aka The Silver Foxes Den, or The Den when we feel lazy, it is time to say good-bye.

As many of you know, Archuleta County will no longer be hosting Senior Services. The non-profit Archuleta Seniors Inc. (ASI) will provide the meal and transportation programs beginning Jan. 1, 2014.

You know ASI through the fabulous membership deal they have offered for so many years and, no, membership is not required to participate in the meal or transportation programs — you just need to be 60 or older, or the spouse of someone 60-plus.

Be sure to come in and meet their new staff soon.

I have enjoyed my time serving you and have become close to so many of you; this certainly isn’t good-bye in any permanent sense. I’ll see you around town.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you over the years. We’ve most certainly had some fun.

I bid you all a fond farewell.
