According to an updated economic impact study (EIS) for Stevens Field, Archuleta County’s airport, the airport contributes an impact of $10.86 returned for every dollar Archuleta County invests there.

That number is the same as last year’s version of the EIS report, despite new numbers being included in the report.

The report was first completed and presented in 2012 (the 2011 report), with the updated report (the 2012 report), being presented this year and including information from 2002-2011.

According to Airport Advisory Commission member Michael Arbuthnot, the goal is to continue to update the report to provide the most accurate information possible, with anecdotal data from the current year showing a rise in airport figures, even without the large fire incidents of the last two summers taken into account.
