National Weather Service issues flash flood watch

Posted

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch in effect from noon to 9 p.m. today for the eastern portions of southwest Colorado, including the San Juan Mountains, the Papoose Fire area in the West Fork Complex and the Little Sand burn scar northwest of Pagosa Springs.

Thunderstorms are expected to produce heavy rain this afternoon and evening over the San Juan Mountains.

Flash flooding, ash flows and debris flows are possible over the Papoose Fire area and the Little Sand burn scar.

A flash flood watch means that conditions could develop that lead to flooding and a dangerous situation.

If a flash flood warning is issued, be prepared to take action and avoid flood areas.
