Barbara Jo Murphy went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the age of 58.
Barbara was truly an angel that filled this world with light and inspiration for all she touched; her laughter and smile were infectious. Barbara passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Farmington, N.M.
She was born in Durango, Colo. to Harold and Emma Lou Wright on Dec. 3, 1954. On June 2, 1973, Barbara married the love of her life, Benjamin Sidney Murphy. Barbara birthed and raised five beautiful children: Michael, David, Timothy, Sarah and Phillip. Barbara dedicated her life to her family and to her career as a registered nurse. She graduated with a nursing degree from San Juan College in 1982, and was employed by San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington for approximately 26 years. She also worked as a home health nurse caring for babies in need. Later in life, she volunteered at multiple agencies throughout Farmington.
Barbara was preceded in death by both her parents, brother Jerald, and sister Brenda. She is survived by her husband, her brothers John, Terrence and Michael, sister Benita, five children and four grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to attend the memorial service in celebration of this wonderful life at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Farmington at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the family’s name to Emmanuel Baptist Church to help defray funeral expenses.
