Special to The PREVIEW
On Sunday, June 2, the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship service will be based on “The Four Agreements,” a book written by physician Don Miguel Ruiz, and presented by Ilene Haykus.
Published in 1997, this book has sold 4 million copies and was featured on Oprah. Haykus will discuss the book and invite others to share their understanding of the ways in which his principles can help us to discover greater harmony within ourselves and with others.
For example, Ruiz advocates freeing ourselves from beliefs and agreements made with ourselves and others that create limitation and unhappiness in our lives. Ultimately, he says, fulfillment is found by living in integrity, loving oneself, and absolving oneself from responsibility for the woes of others. He says the way to do this is to follow four simple rules in life: be impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions, and always do your best.
Haykus has resided in Pagosa Springs for 18 years. She is a past president of the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
The service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall. The address is Unit B-15, Greenbriar Plaza. Turn east on Greenbriar Drive off of North Pagosa Boulevard by the fire station, then left into the back parking lot and look for the big sign. All are welcome.
