Prom committee will auction Japanese-style garden bridge

A custom built, traditional Japanese-style garden bridge was a central piece in Saturday’s high school prom, and the bridge will be sold in a silent auction. Memories of a lifetime are still fresh in the minds of Pagosa Springs High School students who attended this year’s Japanese-themed prom.

On Saturday, April 27, the Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse was transformed by the prom committee into a Japanese tea garden, replete with cherry blossoms, Japanese lanterns, fans and a custom built traditional Japanese-style garden bridge.

Promgoers traversed an enchanting blue tulle “river” that flowed under the bridge as they entered the festivities. This handcrafted bridge would make a beautiful addition to any garden and can now be yours by way of silent auction.

The Japanese garden bridge is constructed with high quality materials generously donated by Ponderosa Lumber. Fashioned from cedar and redwood, the bridge is designed to withstand our Colorado conditions. The bridge’s dimensions are approximately 7 feet long by 4 feet wide.

The bridge is on display in the Ponderosa Lumber Garden Center, where you can add your bid to the silent auction.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the prom committee for Prom 2014. The opening bid is $200 and will go up in increments of $25. The silent auction deadline will be at the close of business on Friday, May 17.
