In Step Dance will host two dance workshops on April 13 at the PLPOA Clubhouse, 230 Port Ave.

Intermediate Country Western Swing and Beginning Salsa workshops will be held at the same time on April 13, and taught by Arthur Murray Champions, Bob and Cindy Long from Albuquerque, N.M.

Bob is former North American and Arthur Murray Professional Ballroom champion; several times U.S. Pro AM Ballroom and Ohio Star Ball finalist; and past chairman, now on the board of the National Dance Council.

Cindy was 4 X’s U.S. Professional Standard Champion; U.S. Professional American Ballroom Finalist; North American Professional Champion in both standard and American styles; British Open Rising star Standard Finalist; and British Open standard Semi-finalist.

Both are several times recipients of the Feather Award for the Most Outstanding Male and Female Teacher in the U.S.; and are Imperial Society Licentiates in Theatre Arts.

Together, they are North American and Arthur Murray Professional Ballroom champions. They co-authored syllabi for Arthur Murray’s Country Western style dances, West Coast Swing, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Lindy Hop and full Bronze & Silver in 12 additional dances. More recently, they have co-authored new syllabi for full Silver and Gold levels in the six standard dances: Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, and Swing; as well as in West Coast Swing, and Night Club 2-Step.

This couple is world renowned for their expertise as traveling consultants and examiners. They continually make themselves available for Pro & Pro/Am coaching, teaching, choreography, adjudicating all levels including World Championships. It is truly a wonderful experience to learn from two of the most dedicated and ambitious talents the world dance community has ever known. It’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Registration, for either the Intermediate CW Swing or the Beginning Salsa workshops begins at 2:45 p.m. Classes will run from 3-6, with a half-hour refreshment break midway. There will be a break from 6-6:30 for everyone to change into dressier attire for party mode if they wish, or for last-minute food preparations.

We will enjoy BYOB cocktails and appetizers from 6:30-7 with a Soup and Salad Potluck dinner following. If you bring an appetizer, please have it there no later than 6:30. If you elect to make soup, please bring it in a crock pot, as there will not be kitchen facilities available. The other options, of course, would be to bring a salad or dessert.

DJ Dusty will play all your favorites from his vast variety of ballroom dance music from 7:30-10:30, and some entertainment is slated throughout the evening, as well as some exciting door prizes.

You do not need a partner to attend, and the cost is $25 per person. All proceeds go to the visiting clinicians and to put on the event. Any leftover funds will go into a Dance Scholarship Certificate that will be awarded to a lucky winner during the gift drawing later that evening. If you attend a workshop, the dance is free. If you do not attend, the cost for the evening’s events is $5 per person. This will help pay for the DJ.
