Special to The PREVIEW
This Friday, March 15, is the first Dance for the Non-Profits — “Dance for the Families” — from 7-10 p.m. at the Ross Aragon Community Center.
Archuleta County Victim Assistance Program, Archuleta County Education Center, Pagosa Youth Center, Justice Ministries, Pagosa Pregnancy Support Center, The Nurturing Center, and Pagosa Outreach Connection will be the non-profits featured at this first dance.
Proceeds from each dance will be split among three of these charities — money that will stay in our community to help others in need. When each attendee checks in, he/she will be given three voting slips to vote for their favorite charity or charities. All three slips can be put into one charity’s box, or can be spread out among multiple boxes. The three charities with the most votes will each win one-third of the proceeds from ticket sales (less expenses). The more people who attend, the more those three charities will win, so spread the word and get your friends and neighbors out to attend these wonderful events.
These dances are adult events, and tickets are $18 in advance and $25 at the door. There will be light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar with beer, wine, and a signature drink created especially for the evening. “The Lucky Leprechaun” will be the first signature drink in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and it will be delicious! Tickets are available at the community center and at Old Towne Market.
The second in the series of Dance for the Non-Profits at the community center, “Dance for Disaster,” was inadvertently printed in last week’s article as being on June 21. That is incorrect; it is on June 7. Please adjust your calendars accordingly and come on out to support the wonderful non-profit organizations that provide disaster relief for our community: Red Cross, Pagosa Fire Auxiliary, Upper San Juan Search and Rescue, Colorado Mounted Search and Rescue, San Juan Mounted Patrol, Upper San Juan EMT Association and Salvation Army.
