Senator Ellen Roberts was named “Legislator of the Year” by the Green Industries of Colorado (GreenCO).
The award was presented to Roberts at the annual ProGreen EXPO conference and tradeshow on Jan. 16.
“GreenCO chose Senator Roberts as its 2012 Legislator of the Year because of her knowledge and support on key GreenCO legislative issues, including water rights and use, contract and employment issues, immigration and agricultural tax items,” said GreenCO lobbyist Jay Hicks. “She is a knowledgeable, business-friendly legislator and an asset at the capitol.”
Roberts was elected in 2010 with 61 percent of the vote in Senate District 6. She served two terms in the Colorado House prior to being elected in the Senate. Currently, she is the ranking Republican on the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. Since being elected to the legislature, Roberts has received several awards from trade and professional groups including the Colorado Farm Bureau, the Colorado Coalition of Land Trusts and the Economic Development Council of Colorado.
The Green Industries of Colorado (GreenCO) is an umbrella trade association comprised of seven landscape-related groups in Colorado. GreenCO represents more than 1,500 companies and 35,000 jobs statewide.
