Special to The SUN
On Sunday, Jan. 20, the Pagosa Pregnancy Support Center will commemorate National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SOHLS) to raise awareness about the special nature of human life and to remind the community about the healing programs that are offered through the center.
Please stop by the center any time from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, tour the building, learn about programs and hear about possible ways to become involved. The Pagosa Pregnancy Support Center is located at 602 South 8th Street.
National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday was declared a special day in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan to focus on the sanctity of human life and the fundamental right to life. As we commemorate 40 years since Roe v. Wade, it is important to raise awareness on how this decision has affected so many lives. Since 1973, there have been more than 54 million abortions conducted in the United States, although statistics show this is decreasing each year.
The Pagosa Pregnancy Support Center joins numerous organizations like itself across the country that will be sharing with the public about its works and programs on this day. The center offers resources if you are facing an unexpected pregnancy or need pregnancy support, and has confidential abortion recovery resources available as well.
