The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will meet Wednesday evening December 12 at the Shy Rabbit Contemporary Art Center, 333 Bastille Drive.

Join the members for socializing starting at 6 p.m., followed by the program, photo critiquing and business meeting at 6:30.

The Pagosa Photo Club is pleased to present this month’s program, a PBS DVD “American Horizons: The Photographs of Art Sinsabaugh.”

Art Sinsabaugh made his artistic breakthrough in the early 1960s with panoramic landscapes of the Midwest that were unprecedented in both form and subject matter. Trained at Chicago’s Institute of Design, Sinsabaugh was a landscape photographer who photographed the spaces that people inhabit. From his early depictions of prairies to the majestic work of his last years, his remarkable photographs capture the ever-changing face of the American environment.

A photo exhibit is held during each club meeting. This month we will have only an open category, in which any subject is allowed. Members can enter as many as six prints or 12 digital images on a flash card. Vice President Dale Malaney will lead the critique of photos. It will be done as a group, rather than by specified judges.

The Photography Club meets the second Wednesday of each month from September through May at 6 p.m. at Shy Rabbit Contemporary Arts Center. Photography enthusiasts are welcome to attend at no charge for the first meeting. If interested, you are invited to join for annual dues of $20 for individuals, $30 for a family, or $10 for a student membership.
