On Nov. 13 and 14, a team from Downtown Colorado, Inc. (DCI) visited Pagosa Springs as a part of the Imagine Downtown group initiative.
The DCI team met with the town council, county commissioners, business owners, residents and representatives of nonprofits as part of an assessment process.
These interviews are just a portion of an evaluation process, which includes review of previous community documents including the Downtown Master Plan and Comprehensive Plan, review of a survey of business owners, and pre-assessment interviews with the town manager and Imagine Downtown participants.
The goal of this initiative is to make the downtown more vibrant and economically viable. DCI will provide a plan, which will offer suggestions from professionals in several fields on ways to accomplish this objective.
The final plan from DCI is expected to arrive in about five weeks. However, at the end of their two days in Pagosa Springs, members of the DCI team presented some preliminary ideas.
Imagine Downtown will hold a meeting to discuss some of the ideas presented and next steps to be taken.
The meeting is scheduled for today, Thursday, Nov. 29, at 5:30 p.m. and will be held in the South Conference Room at the Ross Aragon Community Center.
Anyone interested is invited to attend.
