God came to do business

Recently, we had the opportunity to hear Dr. Bruce Wilkinson speak at a special event in Grass Valley, Calif.

It was sobering.

It was fitting that the gala was not one of celebration, of eating and making merry. The decorations were modest, the menu simple and the program humbling. The Holy Spirit meticulously set the stage for the presence of heaven to appear. It was not the time to give with an hilarious heart, but with a broken one.

A deeper work was done that evening, much more than in the past. There had been months of fasting and praying for this event and for the state of our country. It was a time to humble ourselves and turn to the broken heart of God.

Other pregnancy centers were also having their banquet. I heard from one that their time was also very quiet and sobering. We have attended banquets in the past and have gone away with uplifted glad hearts. We recognized that as Spirit. This time His message was about saving our babies and nation.

A very large offering was given, but the mood was still sobering. Maybe for the first time, we actually felt the heart of God and it made us cry. The night was not about the offering, it was about the Father’s Business. God came to do business.

The number forty has always been a significant number in the Bible. Forty days and forty years in the wilderness, and four hundred years in Egypt, they all tell the story of proving one’s worth and a set time when God would remember (mark His covenant —  Exodus 2) and come down and save His people.

Our country has been in a state of wilderness of testing for the last forty years. When the law came down for legalized abortion in 1972, it opened the door for 54 million babies to be aborted in our country. 2013 is the anniversary of 40 years, and a third of its generation has been sacrificed. If you are alive, then you are one who has survived this horrific slaughter. Today, gender selection is on the rise, if you don’t want a girl, then you can abort it.

In California, the law says that an underge girl  can have an abortion without her parent’s consent. She is picked up from school, taken to an abortion clinic and she will be back in time to go home on the bus. Her parents will never know.  Can you imagine the broken relationship between the young girl and her parents? The guilt and shame she will live with for many years?

In my heart, I believe in God’s mercy and an appointed time. This generation is about to pass. It is not a time to celebrate, but to pray and fast. Many have turned to God, but many haven’t.

After the message we heard that night from Dr. Wilkinson, we cannot say, “Surely, we did not know.” He who weights the hearts considers our words and He who keeps our souls, knows our heart. He knows we heard. He came from heaven the night of the event, through the Holy Spirit, to make His message clear. We have no excuses. We heard. (Proverbs 24:11-12)

Psalm 9:12, “When He avenges blood, He remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble.” The humble are crying and the blood of the innocent has been remembered.

Deuteronomy 32:43, “For He will avenge the blood of His servants; And render vengeance to His adversaries; He will provide atonement for His land and His people.”

It is a time of humbling ourselves before our Almighty God, asking Him for forgiveness. Many of us have looked the other way, believing it wasn’t our problem. It just became our problem. We heard the message loud and clear, and we cannot say, “Surely, we did not know.”

Our prayer should be, “Father, avenge the blood of your servants; and render vengeance for justice sake and for Your Name Sake, against Your adversaries. Save our country.”

I believe the Lord wants to bring mercy. If He can find hearts who will not justify themselves, but will ask for mercy, He will bring justification through His atonement, then possibly this country will be saved.

Jesus told the nobleman in John 4:48-50, “Unless you people see signs and wonders you will by no means believe.” The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come downbefore my child dies!”

We have also been looking for signs in these last days. The sign is before us: 54 million babies aborted in 40 years, a third of this generation died. Law has made it legal, but it is against a Holy God who gives life.

Jesus said to him, “Go your way, your son lives.” So the man believed the word and went his way.
