As of last Thursday, the Friends of Pagosa Skate Pavilion is officially under the nonprofit umbrella of the Community Foundation of Southwest Colorado.

Project organizers have been encouraged, visiting different locations and sharing the vision of a multi-purpose ice/roller skate pavilion with others. Mayor Ross Aragon, county commissioners Clifford Lucero, Steve Wadley and Michael Whiting, as well as representatives of many organizations in Pagosa are enthusiastic about the project.

The final Business Plan is being honed and, when it is complete, project organizers will approach corporations for funding. Because of the group’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, the project is now eligible to apply for grants.

Members of the board of directors are very excited about the prospects and thank the many people of Pagosa Springs who are helping to make this dream for the community come true.
