Temperatures may be falling throughout Pagosa Country as the landscape transitions into fall, but fire season is not over, as was evidenced by two fires reported Sunday.
Both fires began Saturday evening, ignited by lightning, and were noticed Sunday, according to Brandy Richardson, spokesperson for the Pagosa Ranger District, U.S. Forest Service.
The larger of the two fires, the Robinson Fire, was contained Monday at five acres and was located between Mill Creek and Terry Robinson roads southeast of Pagosa Springs, Richardson said.
Richardson reported that the San Juan Hotshots, Archuleta County and Pagosa Fire Protection District assisted the Pagosa Ranger District on the blaze, which is still being monitored.
The smaller of the fires burned a single tree on Blue Mountain, located south of Blanco Basin Road and north of Blue Place, according to Richardson.
That fire, which burned less than one-tenth of an acre, was also contained Monday.
