Special to The PREVIEW
The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will meet Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Shy Rabbit Contemporary Arts, 333 Bastille Drive.
Join us for socializing starting at 6 p.m., followed by the program, photo critiquing and business meeting at 6:30.
The Pagosa Photo Club is pleased to present this month’s program, “Mining and Geology of the San Juan Mountains as Related to Photo Opportunities,” by geologist Steve Merchant. This will be a Power Point slide show discussion led by Steve, oriented toward photography with tips and observations. This will be very informative and enjoyable for who travel around the San Juan Mountains and encounter the great photo opportunities created by the geology and mines of the area.
A photo exhibit is held during each club meeting. Two categories are presented — the monthly theme category and the open category, where any subject is allowed. The theme for the October meeting is any subject you have inside your home. This could be similar to what is known as “close-up photography” or “tabletop photography” or it could be a whole room. You can photograph a bouquet on a table or, perhaps, be more original. Members can enter as many as three prints or six digital images on a flash card. President Al Olson will lead the critique of photos. It will be done as a group rather than by specified judges.
The Photography Club meets the second Wednesday of each month from September through May at Shy Rabbit Contemporary Arts. Photography enthusiasts are welcome to attend at no charge for the first meeting. If interested, you are invited to join for annual dues of just $20 for individuals, $30 for family, or $10 for student membership.
