The Pagosa Springs Tour Stop and Show will be held at the Pagosa Center for the Arts at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11. Proceeds of book sales go to Southwest Land Alliance Ranch Conservation.

World-renowned nature photographer John Fielder, who was a co-founder and on the GOCO Board for eight years, agreed to tour Colorado to present his photography and recount his impressions of GOCO’s accomplishments in dozens of events across the state, hosted by Colorado’s premier regional land trusts.

This event will consist of a slide show entitled “Colorado’s Great Outdoors: Celebrating 20 Years of Lottery-Funded Lands,” with beautiful music married to the images.

Portions of this slide show are specially tailored to Archuleta County in order to feature photographs of what has been invested in locally. Thirty percent of gross proceeds from book sales at the event are donated back to sponsoring organizations.

Fielder has worked tirelessly to promote the protection of Colorado’s ranches, open spaces, and wildlands during his 30-year career as a nature photographer. His photography has influenced people and legislation, earning him recognition, including the Sierra Club’s Ansel Adams Award in 1993 and, in 2011, the Aldo Leopold Foundation’s first Achievement Award given to an individual. Over 40 books have been published depicting his Colorado photography. John lives in Summit County, Colo., where he teaches photography workshops to adults and children. Information about John and his work can be found at www.johnfielder.com.

Many protected local ranches, and nearly every parks, recreation, and open space project in Archuleta County was made possible by GOCO grant funding.

The 31-year-old Southwest Land Alliance is a proud sponsor of this event. Renewing members as well as new members and donors are invited to a private signing and meet and greet at 6 p.m. The free event starts at 7. Purchases of books (just in time for holiday gifts), donations or SLA memberships are encouraged. A cash bar, snacks and refreshments will be provided. No R.S.V.P. is necessary.
