The Sixth Judicial District Victim Assistance and Law Enforcement (VALE) Board is seeking grant applications from agencies and organizations to provide assistance services to crime victims. The funding cycle is Jan. 1, 2013, through Dec. 31, 2013.

The board is committed to funding programs which provide direct services to crime victims and implement the Victims’ Rights Amendment. They may also consider scholarships for in-state training that are related to the welfare of victims.

Revenue for this fund is generated from a surcharge or fees assessed to people who are convicted of felonies, misdemeanors, traffic offenses and fish and game violations; no tax dollars are used. These funds are authorized by Title 24, Article 4.2, Colorado Revised Statutes.

The primary purpose of the VALE grant funding is to assist programs in the Sixth Judicial District (Archuleta, La Plata and San Juan counties) that directly serve crime victims and assist them with emotional and physical needs to stabilize their lives, provide a measure of safety and security, and/or enhance victims’ experience with the criminal justice system.
