Brother and sister team up for the high point award at the Gunnison Swim Meet last week. Devan and Erin Monkiewicz, of the Pagosa Lakes Porpoises, dominated their age groups in the boys 9-10 division and the girls 8 and under division. It was a clean sweep with 16 blue ribbons between the two swimmers. Erin swam a personal best in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 free with times of 43.85 and 1:40.34 respectively. Devan improved his time in all of his eight events with a personal best in the 50 free (35.58) and a time of 3:35.37 in the 200 individual medley.
The 2009 RUNColorado Pagosa Peak Trail Series — three mountain trail races scheduled for the Pagosa area this summer — resumes Saturday with the second in the series, The Devil Mountain 50K Ultra.
The annual Grey Wolf golf trip to Moab, Utah, is scheduled for Sept. 27, 29 and 30. All over 55 are invited — men, women, couples, singles. This is a fun, casual affair.
This year’s Pine Cone Classic Charity golf tournament, July 7 and 8, featured beautiful sunny skies, very lush and well-groomed courses, keen competition, and a very successful charity event.
