The Ross Aragon Community Center, in conjunction with Elation Center for the Arts, presents “A Classic Christmas,” 7 p.m., Dec. 21.
Advance tickets, for $12, go on sale Dec. 3. Tickets purchased at the door are $15. Young people, 18 and under, are invited to attend the concert free of charge. Donations of non-perishable food items for local food banks can be dropped off at the center beginning Dec. 3.
This year, we’re blessed to feature Anita Briggs and Jessica Peterson, a distinguished mother-daughter, classical harp and flute duo. They will perform the entire second half of the concert.
One of the artists featured during the first half of the show is Jessica Espinosa Trujillo, whose dramatic interpretation of “Breath of Heaven” has been a big hit at past concerts.
“This song is a story of the courageous woman who was chosen to carry the Son of God,” says Jessica. “Mary, knowing the road would not be easy, and in the midst of fear and uncertainty, cries out to ‘The Breath of Heaven.’”
Dressing the part of Mary, Jessica fits the part (once again), as she is with child during this Christmas season. A fifth-generation native of Pagosa Springs, Jessica loves sharing her faith in song, as she says, “declaring Christ Jesus as the light of the world and hope to all mankind.” It’s sure to be a breathtaking performance you won’t want to miss.
