Want to eat out at a local restaurant?
Pizza? Chinese? Mexican? Thai? A steak or chicken? What about seafood? Burgers or pub food? A tasty homebrew or glass of fine wine? A romantic dinner or lunch with friends? What about your morning coffee and breakfast?
The choice is yours.
Whatever you choose, the first thing you need to do is grab a United Way Dining Certificate.
For $20, you get a certificate worth $20 at your favorite restaurant, and all the ones you have not tried yet.
Twenty-eight local restaurants participate in the Party ’Round Pagosa program, which allows you to eat out at no additional cost to yourself. For every $20 certificate you buy and use, the restaurant donates $4 to United Way.
Party ’Round Pagosa is one of the ways United Way of Southwest Colorado raises funds in Archuleta County. Our goal this year is to raise $83,000 for our 18 non-profit agency partners. These organizations provide much-needed services in the areas of education, health and self-reliance. As funding from government and other sources is cut back or eliminated, the non-profit sector is working harder than ever to provide services and to raise the funds to do so.
United Way provides a portion of this funding to American Red Cross Southwest Colorado Chapter, Archuleta County Education Center, Archuleta County Senior Services, Archuleta County Victim Assistance Program, Axis Health System, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Girl Scouts of Colorado, Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County, Housing Solutions for the Southwest, Pagosa Outreach Connection, Pagosa Springs Youth Center, Pagosa Waldorf Initiative, Pagosa Pregnancy Support Center, Seeds of Learning, Southwest Smilemakers Dental Program, Southwest Conservation Corps, Southwest Safehouse and Tri-County Headstart.
You read this newspaper. You see the good work many of these organizations are doing in our community. You can volunteer or benefit from the services one or more offer. In any case, if you are going to eat out, you can benefit all of these agencies by purchasing a United Way Dining Certificate.
Call the local United Way office at 731-0484 if you need a dining certificate. You can also purchase United Way Party ’Round Pagosa Dining Certificates at the Chamber of Commerce downtown location, the Ross Aragon Community Center and the Pagosa Lakes Recreation Center. You might know someone who is selling them: United Way volunteers from our advisory council and our local partner agencies also sell dining certificates. So, what are you waiting for?
Party ’Round Pagosa Dining Certificates make great gifts — for that neighbor who always lends you his tools, for that so-nice delivery person, for the other neighbor who brings you a plate of cookies, and the one who takes care of your dog and your plants when you go out of town.
