Downtown Pagosa Springs is the heart of the community and your input is needed to make it healthy.
The Pagosa Springs Community Development Corporation, Chamber of Commerce and local citizens are working as a team to bring representatives of Downtown Colorado, Inc. (DCI) to the area to assist with revitalization of the town. As a part of this initiative, local residents and business owners are asked to participate in focus groups with the DCI team.
Organizers have requested that DCI help define the boundaries of a commercial district, as well as assist with development of ideas related to activities and improvements, marketing and funding resources. Then, it will be up to the citizens of the community to implement the plan.
Following a tour of the town, reviewing local plans such as the downtown master plan and comprehensive plan, and visiting with local officials, business owners and residents, the DCI team will work to provide the community with an action plan, with a goal of making the downtown commercial district vibrant.
This will be successful only if we get participation from all facets of the community.
DCI will hold focus group meetings next Tuesday to gather input.
Meetings will last approximately 45 minutes and all will be held in the South Conference Room of the Ross Aragon Community Center on Hot Springs Boulevard.
A focus group will be held at 1:45 p.m. for representatives of local non-profits, museums, the school district and library.
Business owners are invited to a focus group meeting at 5:30 p.m. Note: This includes all business owners, not just those whose businesses are located in the downtown area. It is the belief of this group that a vibrant and healthy downtown will benefit all local businesses.
At 6:45 p.m., town and county residents will meet with DCI team members.
You are urged to participate in a focus group. Please choose the group that best suits you and R.S.V.P. to Shari Pierce by sending an e-mail to email@example.com with your name, the group you are representing, if any, and which focus group meeting you will be attending. If you don’t get a chance to R.S.V.P., please attend a focus group meeting anyway. Participation by community members is most important.
The DCI plan will be shared with the community at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the community center, north conference room.
