Thank you to everyone who contributed to and attended the Pagosa Springs Nurturing Center’s 2012 Safety Fair. We are grateful to all of you who made our safety fair so much fun. The Norteña band helped make the day so festive; thanks to Alex Tarbet for putting that all together and to Chris Haas for getting everyone prepared for the graffiti wall. Thanks go to Marcus Rivas, the little Rivas musicians and Mama June. Thank you to Kiwanis for their generosity in supplying and cooking lunch for all our hungry folks, and to Joanne Irons for donating the grill. To Mike Alley for the tents and tables; to the Upper San Juan Fire Protection District and San Juan National Forest/Pagosa Ranger District for providing all the great freebies, to Archuleta County Victim Assistance Program’s Mara Koch for her “Safe Heart” activity, to Americorps’ Jenna Gregory, Diane Downing and our Car Seat Techs Mona and Laurie. To everyone who donated to the silent auction, and last, but in no way least, to all the kids who participated and our awesome volunteer staff.
I would like to thank my brother Ernest (Tito) Rivas, my nephew Joseph Rivas and my grandson Marcus Rivas for the beautiful work they did at the burial site for Amanda Stollsteimer Rivas and Anton Stollsteimer. My mother is looking down from heaven and is saying muy lindo, muchos gracias mi hitos, te quedo con todo mi Corazon.
Tom the Lab Guy retires.
I would like to thank everyone for putting up with me for the last nine years at Dr. Pruitt’s and Pagosa Springs Medical Center. I have met some very nice people, but times are a changin’ and due to my age (I remember the Dead Sea when it was only sick), I am going to retire. I hope to see you around town and you will still talk to me. I promise, no needles.
I would also like to thank the entire staff at the hospital, Dr. Pruitt’s and Riverside Health for putting up with me. The staff at the hospital is one of the best I have worked with. We started out as a small med facility and have grown into one of the best and most modern in the Four Corners.
I can’t thank the nursing service and EMS enough for drawing the lab tubes while starting the IVs; it not only makes it easier on the patients, but also really helps with the turn around time on tests.
Once again, thanks to everyone for being a special part of my life. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers.
Tom Joy, retired lab manager at PSMC (sounds good, doesn’t it?).
I would like to thank the Boulder Coffee Cafe for being so gracious, providing the wedding shower for our son Kyle Sanders and his fiance, Whitney Slater, and the baby shower for our son and daughter-in-law, Trent and Amanda Sanders. Debi, the owner, went out of her way to make everything perfect for our event. It is wonderful to be in a community where people care.
