Reyes McInnis represented Pagosa Springs High School at the 3A state golf championship Monday and Tuesday, tying for 49th in the competition.
The two-day tournament was held at Pinehurst Golf Club in Denver, and featured 84 golfers completing two rounds on the par-70 course.
In round one on Monday, McInnis shot an 89, 18 over par. In round two, he nudged his score down by one stroke, completing the round with an 88.
Overall, the 177, 37 over par, landed McInnis tied for 49th.
“I was really proud of him,” said Coach Mark Faber. “He did really well.”
Faber highlighted McInnis’ putting over the two days, and noted the course was easily the toughest of the season.
“It’s a really good challenge for them,” Faber said of the state qualifiers.
Kent Denver’s Ben Moore, shot an even par in both rounds to take the championship.
