Mushrooms: Good for You, Good for Me

Mushrooms are prevalent in the area after the monsoons start.

Gretchen Fitzgerald will lead a slow-paced hike on Falls Creek Road (FR 039) to identify some of these amazing mushroom species. This walk will take place on Monday, Aug. 27, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Participants will not be gathering mushrooms on this interpretive walk. Permits can be obtained at a later date at the Pagosa Ranger District at 2nd and Pagosa streets.

To attend the walk, head east from Pagosa Springs on U.S. 160 for approximately 19 miles (about 3.5 miles below the top of Wolf Creek Pass). Make a right onto Falls Creek Road (FR 039) and meet about 1/10 mile down the road. Wear walking shoes/boots, a hat, and bring sunscreen and drinking water.
