The second annual Michael Maestas Memorial Rodeo will be held Saturday at the Archuleta County Fairgrounds, beginning at 10 a.m.
Everyone is invited to attend and watch kids of all ages and abilities compete in timed events such as barrel racing and pole bending, as well as roping events.
There is no charge for admission, and a concession stand will provide homemade food.
This rodeo is held in memory of Michael (Mikie) Maestas, who passed away in 2007, as a result of a car accident. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, rodeo and the sport of wrestling.
The rodeo raises funds for a scholarship that is awarded to a high school senior each year. Donations are sincerely appreciated.
