Graduates from Pagosa Springs High School this spring were again the beneficiaries of a fund-raiser sponsored by Ike and Sharron Oldham this past Saturday at the home of Dennis and DeAnne Brown in the Upper Blanco Basin.
The occasion raised money for the Eddie Oldham Foundation, named in memory of the Oldhams’ son, Eddie, who died in a motor vehicle accident in 1989.
Eddie was a passionate member of the Pagosa Springs 4-H program and the foundation awards college scholarships to high school graduates who have been active in the 4-H program and who attend college to further their studies in 4-H related fields.
This year’s event was the fourth annual Trailride fund-raiser. Among the attendees were Kaley Ray and Kim Hunsicker, 2012 graduates who are currently receiving scholarship assistance to attend Colorado State University and Northwestern Oklahoma University respectively. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded dozens of scholarships to students from the community.
The event included a trail ride and covered dish dinner and was followed by a live auction. Proceeds from the auction benefit the foundation. Auction items were donated by individuals in the community and many generous Pagosa merchants.
