Things to do, things to see at SHY RABBIT

There is always something interesting going on at SHY RABBIT!

SHY RABBIT Contemporary Arts: Gallery, Studio and Workshops may be in between its annual roster of exhibitions, but don’t let that get in the way of a visit, as there is always something interesting to see or to get involved with.

Established in 2004 by Pagosa Springs residents D. Michael and Denise Coffee, SHY RABBIT has presented nearly 40 exhibitions to date, showcasing the works of local and nationally-recognized artists.

SHY RABBIT is open to the public Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at no charge. Visitors are invited to tour this expansive 4,000 square-foot arts center and gallery at their leisure, and to take in all that SHY RABBIT has to offer.

SHY RABBIT houses a working ceramic studio and fine art gallery, two mixed-media workshops, and two rotating exhibition spaces.

This “hidden treasure” is located off the beaten pat’ on the west end of Pagosa Springs in a wooded commercial district, in a fully renovated former auto-repair shop.

A wide selection of skillfully crafted works is currently on display by select gallery artists, including unique sculptural and functional ceramics, hand-pressed monoprints, aquatint etchings, abstract paintings, ceramic ikebana containers with floral arrangements, and reanimated animal skulls.

Workshops are also offered regularly in ceramics and printmaking, instructed by professional artist and SHY RABBIT Creative DirectorD. Michael Coffee.
