The Pagosa Springs Community Band gave a free concert on July 4. This concert was graciously hosted by the Springs Resort Hotel.
The band members would like to thank the hotel owners for offering their grounds as a site for the concert and assisting with setup for the concert.
The Pagosa Springs Community Band is led by co-conductors Larry Baisdon and Bill Gottschalk.
The crowd enjoyed several patriotic selections from “America the Beautiful” to John Philip Sousa’s “Semper Fidelis.” Soloists Samantha Hunts, Larry Elginer and Bob Nordmann offered their fine artistic talents.
The band was also joined by members of the Pagosa Springs Community Choir who sang “The Pledge of Allegiance” and “God Bless America,” accompanied by the band.
The concert featured two guest conductors — Dan Burch, the talented Pagosa Springs High School music director, and Malinda Fultz, band member and recent graduate from the music department at Fort Lewis College, who led the band’s final number, John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
A wonderful audience braved the afternoon sun and helped make the concert a success.
Band members look forward to playing for you on the Fourth of July next year and making a new tradition for Pagosa’s holiday celebration.
