With monsoonal moisture patterns rolling into the skies over Pagosa Country, people recreating on or near rivers should be wary of possible flood and high-water situations.
Archuleta County Director of Emergency Management Drew Peterson cautions that this is a flood season for the area, and with the moisture, river levels can rise quickly.
That rise can cause not only flash flooding and rivers overflowing banks, but can cause strong currents as well. Storms in the high country can affect river levels at lower elevations
Those hiking or recreating away from town are urged to proceed with cauion in light of daily afternoon rains and thunderstorms.
