Geothermal Greenhouse Celebration to benefit garden and energy project

The Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership announces its first Geothermal Greenhouse Celebration.

The festive fund-raiser will fill the outdoor space between the Pagosa Springs Town Hall and the Ross Aragon Community Center, Saturday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Numerous volunteers are organizing a silent auction that features Western art and outdoor equipment. When the silent auction ends at 3 p.m., a live auction offers a Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition and a backyard-sized Growing Spaces greenhouse dome.

Supporters will enjoy a fajitas lunch, catered by Chavalo’s, a favorite local restaurant. Beer and wine will also be available. Numerous musicians will entertain with a variety of musical styles from the stage.

Parelli’s Natural HorseManShip is conducting its own online auction to benefit the GGP. The high bidder receives five nights at The Springs Resort, a gourmet dinner with Linda and Pat Parelli and local dignitaries, and VIP passes to Parelli’s annual Savvy Days and Performance Summit in early September. Go online to www.parellinaturalhorsetraining.com/greenhouse-auction or www.parelliauction.com to place your bid, and tell your out-of-town friends to place their bids before June 24. The winning bid will be announced at the celebration on June 30.

Proceeds from the Geothermal Greenhouse Celebration support the educational nonprofit Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership. The downtown revitalization project will build three large greenhouse domes in Centennial Park. The growing domes will be dedicated to lifelong education in sustainable agriculture; commercial food production and entrepreneurship; and cooperative community gardening. The park will demonstrate renewable energy and all things geothermal.

An up-to-date list of valuable auction items will be published next week before the Geothermal Greenhouse Celebration. Put this event on your calendar today and join Geothermal Greenhouse supporters on June 30.
