Summer at the PSCA theatre

Following the 2011-2012 season finale of “Doubt: a Parable” (May 18-June 3), the Summer Season boasts three delightful and diverse musicals. Kander & Ebb’s “Chicago” opens the Season on June 15 and runs every other week through August 12 with shows Wednesday through Sunday. “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” begins on June 22 and runs in rep with “Chicago” through August 5. Rounding out the summer is the regional premiere of “The Last Five Years,” opening on Sept. 7, and running through the Sept. 23.

“Chicago” opens on June 15.

“Chicago” will give them the old Razzle-Dazzle! Girls, guns, glitz and glamour hit the Breaks Black Box Stage at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts with the multi Tony Award-winning Broadway musical “Chicago”. The sizzling tale of corruption and celebrity, inspired by the sensationalized trials of 1920’s Chicago, has John Kander music, lyrics by Fred Ebb, choreography inspired by Bob Fosse and all that Jazz! Get your tickets early — the shows are already starting to fill up.

‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” Opens on June 22.

Based on the beloved comic Peanuts, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” is an updated classic that enjoyed a successful run on Broadway. The show is a day made up of little moments picked from all the days of Charlie Brown, from Valentine’s Day to the baseball season, from wild optimism to utter despair, all mixed in with the lives of his friends (both human and non-human) and strung together on the string of a single day, from bright uncertain morning to hopeful starlit evening. Two new songs, “Beethoven Day” and “My New Philosophy,” are added to a score which includes the wonderful numbers “The Baseball Game,” “Suppertime” and “Happiness”. This musical is appropriate for all ages and shouldn’t be missed by children and adults alike.
