Celebrate America at the community center in June

Are you ready for something new and exciting? If you said, “yes,” you won’t want to miss this years Celebrate America Party at the Ross Aragon Community Center on June 29.

At 6 p.m., join us for a celebration of America and enter your best potato salad or baked beans into our “America’s Best Contest.” Celebrate our country, soldiers and independence. Enjoy our cash bar and an all-American barbecue plate, served up with the contest entries followed by a complimentary dessert.

At 7 p.m., The Wild Country Band from Durango will take the stage for a good, Old Fashion American Dance. This event is free to the community and all ages are welcome to come show their American pride and best dance moves. Call the community center for more information 264-4152.

Free Programs

Write Along the Write Path. Mondays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Explore your creative side with Sherril Lowe. See what you can do through free write and motivation.

Move your body and dance. Mondays, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Come get your body in shape with June Marquez at the community center. Call 264-4152 for more information.

Mah Jongg. Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m. Call the center with any questions, 264-4152.

Pickleball. Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8-10 a.m. If you need a pickleball fix, join us. Loaner paddles are available. If you would like to learn the game of pickleball, join us from 9 a.m.–10 a.m. to learn this fun and exciting game. Contact Fran if you have any questions, 884-3184.

Tai Chi. No experience is necessary. Join instructors Pam Kircher and Anna O’Reilly. Classes are Wednesdays, 11a.m.-noon. Please wear flat-soled shoes and bring water. Class is open to everyone.

Hoopsters. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-9 a.m. Warren and the guys are waiting for you to come out and play. They will play with just about anyone. The Hoopsters are a great group of guys getting out there twice a week for a good game of b-ball.

Yoga. Thursdays, 10-11 a.m. and Tuesdays, 10-11:30 a.m. Come, rejuvenate with us. Please bring a mat or towel. Call the center with questions, 264-4152.

Meditation on the Breath. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11-11:30 a.m. Call the center for information.

Strength and Flexibility. Mondays and Wednesdays, 10-11 a.m. Please bring a mat or towel. Call Helena for information, 731-5529.

Belly Dancing. 1–2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. All ages and levels welcome. Come learn this beautiful art; it is great exercise and lots of fun. Contact Carla for more information, 731-3117.

Israeli Folk Dance. Wednesdays, 7-9:30 p.m. Come learn this unique type of dance and have a great time while getting exercise. All experience levels welcome. Call Kim Hartfiel if you have questions, 946-7285.

Dulcimer. The dulcimer is an entry folk instrument, not as difficult as the guitar to learn. If you would like to learn to play this instrument, come on Wednesdays, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Call the center for information at 264-4152.

Computer Classes. Intermediate classes will be on Tuesdays and beginning class will be on Wednesdays. For information or to reserve a spot, call Becky at 264-2171.

Messianic Dance. Sometimes called Davidic Dance. A dance that offers a wonderful form of worship to God. Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m. For more information, call the community center 264-4152.

The Ross Aragon Community Center has the space you are looking for. We have reasonably priced rooms to meet your event needs. Our rates range from $6 to $90 per hour. Room sizes for 20, 40, 50, 90 or 500 people.

The community center hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday by appointment only.
