During its regularly scheduled board meeting on Wednesday, May 16, the La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) board of directors gave a vote of confidence to the 2011-2012 Executive Committee, re-electing all officers to their current positions for a second term. As per the LPEA by-laws, officers are elected each year at the first board meeting following the cooperative’s annual meeting, this year held May 12.
Jerry L. McCaw (District 2) retains his position as president of the board for the coming year. Tom Compton (District 2) will serve as vice president, with directors Pam Patton (District 4) and Joe Wheeling (District 4) to continue as secretary and treasurer, respectively.
Wheeling will also maintain his seat on the Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association board. LPEA directors representing LPEA on the Colorado Rural Electric Association (CREA) and Western United boards are, respectively, Tom Compton (District 2) and Bob Formwalt (District 1). Ken Fox (District 1) will join the Round Up Foundation board.
The directors also selected Saturday, May 11, 2013 as the date of the next annual meeting. Sky Ute Casino and Resort will again be the location, pending confirmation of the venue’s availability.
?“No question, we have some challenges in the energy industry, both nationally and locally, and we will have some important decisions to make in the coming months and years,” said McCaw, who has served on the LPEA board since 2000. “As always, however, at La Plata Electric we will continue our focus on providing safe, reliable electricity at the lowest possible cost to our membership, while at the same time being environmentally responsible.”
LPEA, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative established in 1939, provides to its more than 30,000 members, with in excess of 42,000 meters, safe, reliable electricity at the lowest reasonable cost, while being environmentally responsible.
