Two unique four-day string camps are being offered the week of June 25-28: one for students with stringed instrument experience and one for those who are brand new to and curious about playing strings. This is a first-time offering in the Pagosa Springs area.
A morning session is being offered (9-11:30 a.m.) for stringed instrument players with some experience and will emphasize playing in small ensembles — duets, trios and quartets. Music will be provided for practice before the actual start date so that the four-day focus can be on ensemble-playing skills.
The afternoon session, held from 1-2:30 p.m., will be for beginners ages 6-11 who would like to be introduced to playing violin, viola or cello. Information on renting an instrument for the week is available on request. Students will be able to play several simple tunes by the end of the four-day session.
Cost for the morning session is $110, which includes all materials and a nutritious snack each day. Cost for the afternoon session is $65 (including materials and snack), plus the instrument rental fee.
