Results of director elections in the four districts of La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) are slated to be announced at the electric cooperative’s annual meeting, Saturday, May 12, at Sky Ute Casino and Resort, Ignacio.
Annual meeting registration begins at 9 a.m., with the business meeting commencing at 10:30 a.m. A complimentary luncheon, catered by Sky Ute, follows the meeting. The annual meeting is free and open to all member-consumers who pay their electric bill to LPEA.
In addition to a review of the business of the cooperative and director election results, the meeting will feature Ken Anderson, executive vice president and general manager, Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc., LPEA’s primary power supplier.
Director election ballots were mailed to LPEA’s members on April 20. The approximately 7,600 LPEA members in Archuleta County — District 1 — will elect a representative to the board from a field of two: incumbent J. Robert (Bob) Formwalt and new candidate Kirsten Skeehan.???
LPEA member-consumers who attend the annual meeting will receive an energy efficient “Smart Strip,” plus a $5 credit on their electric bill. Those who register at the meeting are also eligible for a wide array of door prizes.
“The annual meeting is a terrific opportunity to learn first-hand about the successes of and challenges facing La Plata Electric, as well as visit with the board members in person. We represent the members, and we are interested in everyone’s input,” said Jerry McCaw, LPEA board president.
