Mayor Ross Aragon will be the featured speaker at the May 8 Archuleta County Republican Women’s meeting.
The meeting will be held at Boss Hogg’s Restaurant from noon to 1:30 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.
Ross Aragon has been mayor since 1978 and has served Pagosa Springs well for over 34 years. The town elections are on a non-partisan basis for terms of four years with no term limits. The mayor is an unpaid position.
In 2009, Mayor Aragon’s dedication and accomplishments for the Town of Pagosa Springs resulted in the honor of having the community center dedicated and named after him. Family roots in Pagosa Springs go back to 1821. Mr. Aragon was born in Pagosa Springs and has watched it grow from a “sleepy town” along the San Juan to the diverse multifaceted place of today to work, enjoy the outdoors, participate in numerous year-round community events, and has seen the development of a first-rate hospital.
There are many challenges ahead as the town and surrounding area continue to grow. Mayor Aragon will address the current and future status of our community at the May 8 ACRW meeting.
Also, Bob Formwalt, an incumbent candidate for the LPEA board, will be addressing the meeting. Bob Formwalt has spent the better part of the last 50 years of his life living, working, serving and raising his family in Archuleta County. This has provided him with a unique historical perspective of the continual needs LPEA and its members face.
