We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our neighbors Mike Martinez, Kendall McKallister, Marilyn, Greg, Randy, Kim, Pam and Terry for noticing the fire that broke out on our property on Trujillo Road last Wednesday and working to suppress it until the firefighters arrived. Many thanks to the Archuleta County fire crew, along with Los Pinos and Navajo River crews. Because of our neighbors’ quick reaction and heroic efforts, our buildings were saved and we have come to realize that the results could have been catastrophic for us. Thank you all and any others that we may not have mentioned.

Thank you to all the supporters of the Scott Kay Fund.
This was our first year raising money for the Scott Kay Fund and, overall, we were incredibly successful. We sold chance tickets throughout the community and also received many generous donations. In addition, we had a great turnout of about 50 people at our silent auction movie night. We would like to thank everyone who donated time, money and products to helping us succeed. Each year, about 24 percent of fifth- and sixth-grade students who participate in the ski program request a scholarship. About 21 percent of seventh- and eighth-grade participating students also request scholarships. This makes up approximately 130 ski scholarships that are given out each ski season. With the funds we raised this year, we will be able to support all of the ski scholarships requested throughout the middle school, thus reaching our goals. We were overwhelmed with the support we received throughout our community, and we are extremely appreciative of all the donations that were given in honor of Scott. It is so important to give students the unique opportunity to learn to ski, and we are happy to be able to support this wish in honor of a wonderful man. Our goal is to continue the Scott Kay Fund for years to come, so keep your eye out for our upcoming events after the summer.
