Tickets for $18 are available by calling 731-SHOW (7469) or on the PSCA website, www.pagosacenter.org.
The Sandra Wong Trio is comprised of three extraordinary musicians from the Front Range: Sandra Wong (violin and nickelharpa), Dominick Leslie (mandolin) and Ty Burhoe (tabla and world hand percussion).
The Sandra Wong Trio creates a unique and highly pleasing musical experience by drawing from several musical traditions: classical, Indian, bluegrass, jazz, Scandinavian and oldtime American. The trio also performs original compositions.
Sandra Wong began studying violin at age 7 with the intention of becoming a concert violinist. This remained her sole focus, for 15 years, until she discovered fiddling at which time her music began expanding in unexpected ways. Since then, Wong has performed nationally and internationally and has released four albums.
Ty Burhoe is known for his inspired accompaniment and uplifting presence in both classical and fusion ensembles. Internationally recognized for his musical collaborations weaving tabla with other world music traditions, Burhoe is also well known for his talents as a recording engineer and concert producer. He has been featured on many soundtracks for film and DVD, including the academy award-winning documentary, “Born into Brothels.”
Dominick Leslie, a Colorado native, has been playing music since he was barely old enough to hold an instrument. He has been composing since he was 12. At age 15, Leslie recorded a solo CD, “Signs of Courage,” which received rave reviews from Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine. In 2004, Leslie became the youngest contestant to win the Rockygrass mandolin contest. Leslie tours with some of the top names in the acoustic music scene. Leslie is already known to many Pagosans as a performer at the Pagosa Folk N’ Bluegrass Festival, the Four Corners Folk Festival and as a teacher at the Pagosa Bluegrass Camp for Kids.
