The Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District will hold an election Tuesday, May 8, to fill three board vacancies.
The League of Women Voters will host a candidates’ forum on Thursday, April 19, in preparation for that election; the public is invited to meet the candidates at 6 p.m., with the forum beginning at 7 p.m. at the County Extension Building.
The forum will include the six candidates running for the three vacancies: Burt Adams, Mike Church, Raymond Finney, Patrick O’Brien, Chris Pitcher and Glenn Walsh.
The forum will begin with the candidates introducing themselves and their views on the top PAWSD priorities, followed by questions from the League. Following this, the floor will be open to questions direct from the audience in a town hall-style meeting.
The League of Women Voters was founded in 1920 to promote political responsibility through informed and active citizen participation in government. There are approximately 80,000 members of the League of Women Voters within all 50 states and the Virgin Islands. In Colorado alone, there are 1,500 members. The League is a non-partisan organization that neither supports nor opposes any candidate or party. The League does take positions on issues based on in-depth study and provides voters with that analysis. As such, the League enjoys a reputation in the community for providing voters with reliable, balanced information.
Local League membership is $15 and all citizens are encouraged to join and get involved. For more information on the LWV, visit our website at http://lwvac.org/league.html.
