Come join us this Saturday when the Southwest Organization for Sustainability (SOS) presents an Earth Day event to “Mobilize the Earth.”
This event is being held in partnership with the Pagosa Chamber of Commerce and the Pagosa Mountain Morning Rotary Club.
The Chamber has coordinated a “Recycle Your Talents” volunteers event. Come learn about different nonprofits in the area that could use volunteers. There will be 27 non-profits participating.
The Mountain Morning Rotary Club will be serving Pagosa Brewing beer and wine. Smoke’n Blue BBQ and Old Town Market will be selling food; Boulder Coffee Cafe and Sweets-N-Such will be selling smoothies, coffee, drinks and desserts. Vendors will be selling wares and a chair massage will be available for your relaxation. There will also be activities for kids, including an inflatable jumper, offering a fun time for everyone.
Local musical groups will perform at the gazebo all afternoon.
The Pagosa Zimbabwe Marimba Ensemble will begin at noon, followed by the Rakassah Jabal Belly Dance Troupe at 1 p.m.
Next will be a demonstration of Aikido, the martial art of harmony at 1:20 p.m.
Other local music will continue with Reintento Norteño, members of Pagosa Springs High School’s Americana Project, a new band called Faculty X, Blue Grass Cadillac and Night Tribe with Lisa Saunders. A final music jam will take place from 5:30 p.m. until closing.
Even though the E-Cycle collection has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, please bring your household batteries to the SOS booth.
In case of inclement weather, this event will be moved to the Pagosa Springs Youth Center across from Town Park … but, please, continue visualizing sunshine and warmth. We are looking forward to seeing many of you at this wonderful community event.
